Baja Bull Dorado are back…
We haven’t seen dorado numbers like this in YEARS! A bull dorado over 40 pounds was landed. That’s at least one Big Bull a day for the past week!..Rebecca Ehrenberg
Mex ONE 48 Years Old!
Yellowtail fishing has been solid for medium-sized yellows at the San Bruno reef. Live mackerel gets fished the most for yellowtail and usually gets the best results. Blue and white iron chuckers have also been doing well on the smaller, 12-pounders.
The “hot talk” is about taking the long ride north to hammer the big yellows at Pulpito and the Almejas rock piles. “Let’s go, let’s go” doesn’t mean the fish are hitting the decks, but the time of year is pointing in that direction. As soon as the Christmas tourist rush is over, we should be seeing more big yellows coming in from up north.
Baja Fall Action Continues
What a day for Pisces 66′ Viking Friday Bank Angler Malia Evans told us about her day, “We had three generations of family aboard. We caught seven dorado and one marlin released! Plus, one of the dorado had a baby turtle in its mouth when we caught it. We were able to revive the baby turtle and release it, and it swam off strong.”
Memories to last a lifetime; that’s what it’s all about.
Triple Digit Dorado
FIVE HUNDRED AND THIRTY-FIVE DORADO caught in this last week for the fleet! Top boats, like Pisces 42′ Sea Señora had 28 dorado were caught in one day, plus marlin were released and Pisces 45′ Chasin Tail, for example, had 24 dorado, marlin, and sailfish released too. We are proud to respect catch limits and sizes on all these mahi-mahi, keeping only what we must, releasing well over 300 of these fish, and releasing all billfish caught this week too. We also had a few nice-grade tuna of around 70- to 80-pounds, and we even released blue marlin. For those preferring to remain closer to shore, bonito, sierra, jack crevalle, and a few roosterfish provide surface action.
Marina Puerto Escondido (MPE) Leads the Pack
Thirty local and visiting teams completed their paperwork and plunked down their final payments for the entry fee and brown bag jackpot for the Marina Puerto Escondido Tournament.
May Day May Day
We did catch snapper, grouper, a dorado, along with blue trevally and an assortment of other fish. Oh, and we got a thresher! The weather was great most of the day! It was 72 to 75 degrees with mild winds
Baja swordfish and yellowtail shatter records
Cabo swordfish explode as 43-year-old Pisces fleet leads the Los Cabos fleet with record back-to-back “swordy” catches two days in a row — Thursday, Pisces 31’ Tracy Ann caught one, and Friday Pisces 35’ Bill Collector caught another two.
Baja Spring Sportfishing Begins
The yellowtail bite that had been en Fuego has somewhat slowed from all the pressure. Despite that, we were able to get quite a few nice yellowtail on both days. Knox, age five, was stoked on his first yellowtail which was almost as big as he was! And his dad, Doryan, is so happy that he now has a new fishing buddy for life.
Cabo Swordy on 30-pound Tackle
A swordfish on 30-pound tackle took three and a half hours to subdue aboard the Pisces Sportfishing’s “LISTO” out of Cabo San Lucas. This was in addition to double-digit roosterfish that were released by several different groups fishing aboard Pisces’ charters.
