Wahoo it’s December!
Wahoo action was located on the grounds north of Punta Gorda to Vinorama, but the action was spotty, and mixed sizes of fish were taken, from four-pound sierra to trophy-sized tournament-contending wahoo weighing around 60 pounds.

Leatherback Turtle steals the show
Suddenly, Captain Luis threw the throttle back and we nearly stopped cold. That can mean there’s a marlin on the surface and we were excitedly scanning the sea when he was shouting “Tortuga, Tortuga” and pointing portside. Holy massive Leatherback Turtle!
Monster Tuna, miss the party
So what would happen in 2020 of course? A 310-pound yellowfin tuna was landed only three days after the Tournament. The Captain was Francisco Castillo, known locally as “Gachi” and the catch was aboard his Super panga “Regina 2,” a 26-footer. Angler Mike Witoshynsky landed the fish on the outer Gordo Banks close to San Jose del Cabo.

While there were stripers, sailfish, and smaller blues released, teams struggled to find a winning fish that would meet the 300-pound minimum. Each day there were reports of hooking and ultimately losing fish that would have exceeded 300 pounds.
Baja sportfishing on fire!
The most productive fishing this week was between San Jaime (more so for billfish) and the Pacific side in general for dorado from 5 to 20 miles up the Coast. Only a few boats headed to the Iman and some areas of the East Cape. Water temperatures are still high, reaching temps between 84 degrees and 87 degrees F.
