Coronado Islands/Rockpile

Some bluefin found just south of the 226 yesterday in the clean water. Fish were seen crashing on balls of anchovy. They were pretty boat shy and went down fast. No word of them seen here today.
Also some kelp paddies in the area holding yellowtail. Not every kelp is holding but a pretty decent number are. These yellows are picky and not all will bite but it does seem to be improving

425 / Tuna Pens / Upper Hidden / 475 Knuckle
The pens got a good look this morning and there were no signs of those big bluefin around anymore.
It seems like the volume of mixed grade bluefin that had been holding around the Upper Hidden Bank has moved up towards the 371 / Knoll, there was no sign of the fish at the Hidden today.

There continue to be some big 10-15lb bonito, and some kelp paddy yellowtail found in this area.
The bonito in the area are big units in the 8-10lb class and being found on random jig stops, breezers, sonar marks, flat spots and under birds.
The 160 size MadMacs and Halco plugs are working really well to get bonito jig stops. Troll them at 7-8 knots. Blue/white, red/white, and mexican flag colors for troll feathers. Cedar plugs are working well tooFish Dope

                   **** ATTENTION ****
You must stay at least 250 meters (820 feet) away from tuna pens. If you don’t, you risk losing your boat and landing in a Mexican jail.

Angler and Guid with trophy sized dorado just landed.

We dropped some 200g MILF Slider Jigs in 250ft of water. First drop I hooked up a few bounces up from the bottom. We ended up catching 7 Yellowtail within an hour all on the long Jigs. Yellowtail have returned to the deep with water temp slightly over 80 degrees. Come too far up the column and you will catch Bonita. We left the hot bite to do a little diving to cool off. Shallows were alive with fish. Ended up getting some nice size Cabrilla, Small Amberjack and Palometa (Yellow Jack). There have been reports of Dorado and Marlin. We trolled home but only hooked into more Bonita. The ocean was very lively with other wild life including Humpbacks, Dolphins, Rays and Turtles.…Rick Hill
