Coronado Canyon / 425 / Tuna Pens / Upper Hidden / 475 Knuckle / Above 32 00
The volume of huge bluefin that had been holding near the tuna pens seems to have moved and gone MIA.
There continue to be some 10 to 15-pound bonito found in the lower part of the Canyon, just above the 425, and south from the 475 Knuckle to the Upper Hidden Bank. Trolling feathers, Halcos, Nomads, and the smaller Madmacs account for most of the fish caught by private boaters.
In this area, a small number of kelp hold 10 to 20-pound yellowtail, but they are not very willing to bite. Most ignore the bait, but they are still worth looking at. …Fish Dope.Fish Dope.
**** ATTENTION ****
You must stay at least 250 meters (820 feet) away from tuna pens. If you don’t, you risk losing your boat and landing in a Mexican jail.

Chivato Bulls Only Dorado Tournament
The “Bulls Only Dorado Tournament” is now One for the Books for 2024. However, the big seiners showed up this month, and fishing slowed. After the seiners showed, 18 boats in the tournament caught only six fish, the biggest being 21 pounds. In addition, we had to abort our fishing to rescue a boat adrift outside of San Marcos Island. We towed it 15 miles at five knots back to Chivato and missed the weigh-in by FIVE hours. As it turns out, the anglers were one resident here in Chivato and two Government Officials from Santa Rosalía, including the Port Captain. Hopefully, he will remember us if we meet him again someday. We can send tournament results later! Craig and Theresa Cove

MEXICAN MINUTE LA PAZ FISHING REPORT from Tailhunter
Sportfishing for June 10-17, 2024

Tito and Javier Cota landed this 200-pound yellowfin today fishing in Los Barriles. This is the second 200-pound tuna landed in as many weeks.
San Jose del Cabo
GORDO BANKS PANGAS
The main focus this week was bottom and inshore fishing. The tuna and wahoo bite is almost nonexistent. We only accounted for one yellowfin and one wahoo all week; both were under 30 pounds. Most boats focused on different rock structures throughout La Fortuna and Cardon. Fishing bigger live bait has produced big amberjack, grouper, and dogtooth snapper. The largest amberjack caught was a 76-pounder, although we saw many quality fish over 40 pounds. The favorite bait seems to be caballito and moonface, if we can get some from the bait guys, as it is not a guarantee. Live sardina continue to attract good numbers of yellow snapper and grouper.
We had a decent marlin bite throughout most of the week. Most boats focus in areas closer to the inner and outer Gordos, as plenty of bait seems to be out there. There are not a lot of dorado, though some boats were lucky to find small schools while fishing offshore for marlin or inshore for roosterfish. Most of these dorado are small, averaging 10 to 12 pounds, and are hitting on ballyhoo and marlin lures.
Closer to shore, we are seeing big roosterfish – the biggest this week was well over 60 pounds, caught on a live mullet. The best areas to target these roosters are La Laguna and Zacaton. While trolling live sardina and mullet throughout these shorelines, we have also picked off a few dorado.. …Good Fishing, Brian Brictson
