FIVE HUNDRED AND THIRTY-FIVE DORADO caught in this last week for the fleet! Top boats, like Pisces 42′ Sea Señora had 28 dorado were caught in one day, plus marlin were released and Pisces 45′ Chasin Tail, for example, had 24 dorado, marlin, and sailfish released too. We are proud to respect catch limits and sizes on all these mahi-mahi, keeping only what we must, releasing well over 300 of these fish, and releasing all billfish caught this week too. We also had a few nice-grade tuna of around 70- to 80-pounds, and we even released blue marlin. For those preferring to remain closer to shore, bonito, sierra, jack crevalle, and a few roosterfish provide surface action.

Wahoo! Fall Arrives
Pisces 35′ Valerie with Captain Roberto Sandez, aka “El Jefe,” were killing it this week. This boat had a 100% Catch Success Rate in five days of fishing. They had five billfish released, including a 250-pound blue marlin, a striped marlin, and a sailfish. Plus, 14 dorado, 25 yellowfin tuna (20 to 60-pounds each), and this nice wahoo yesterday. No wonder El Jefe is considered one of the “best in the business” and has been a Captain with Pisces for 33 years.
OLAF Drenches before moving on
Category 2, “Olaf,” landed near San Jose del Cabo at 10:00 p.m. Thursday with 100 mph winds, according to the U.S.-based National Hurricane Center (NHC). The Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) said that Olaf’s heavy rains and winds in the state of Baja California Sur affected 205,866 users.
Yellowfin arrive @ Baja’s Tip
The cow-sized yellowfin tuna were in the count. The charter fleet and private boats found some smaller yellowfin tuna a bit farther offshore, leading into September, which shaped up to be a hot month for fishing!

20,000 juvenile Totoaba Released
Earth Ocean Farms (EOF), with the support of the federal and local governments, released 20,000 juvenile Totoaba, raised through sustainable aquaculture practices, as part of the yearly effort to restock the Gulf of California. This release adds up to other efforts carried out by EOF, resulting in the restocking of over 140,000 totoabas since the aquaculture company was created in 2014.
