Keep a watchful eye out for bird schools, breezers, or sonar marks from kelp beds out toward the Coronados in the flats. Some of the breezers are deep and are being found on sonar marks and caught on yoyo iron, and some come up on micro bait under birds and can be caught on surface iron. Because of this, keep a long surface iron rod AND a short heavy yoyo iron rod ready to go at a moment’s notice. You might only get a few seconds to respond and it’s best to be ready in advance. As for color, they all work as long as it’s mint!… Fish Dope
Lower 9 Mile Bank / Coronado Islands
Evening Report from Seaquinn;
Knowing that tuna are tough to find now, we planned a rockfish trip out of San Diego Bay at 8-am. Wow! We headed to the 9-Mile bank and found 330-ish feet of water. It was quite a bit windier today than predicted, and was a bit bumpy, so we needed a guy on the wheel to keep us in location, but we really scored on big reds. Today we brought back no bait, and only used lures to get the larger models. Not a bad day! Back at home fileting by 3-pm…Fish Dope
NOTE! The full-day fleet, ie., the San Diego, Liberty, Grande, and Mission Belle are no longer fishing offshore due to slow fishing.
The latest word we have is that the San Diego will be fishing the Islands beginning Wednesday. The others are off-line doing maintenance. For how long? WE don’t have an answer to that question.
That said, we are still waiting to hear of anything happening today.
Over the weekend we got several reports of big bonito scattered all around the Islands. They were scoring well on trolled feathers and Rapalas, but slow-trolling sardines was getting nothing but sea lions.

This zone is on life support and just barely clinging to life but refuses to die.
There are still a few widely-scattered wolf packs of big bluefin roaming around. Getting them to bite though is proving to be incredibly difficult.
Kelp paddy yellowtail fishing is also hanging on, barely.
Most kelps are dry now but a few are holding some small one- to five-pound yellowtail.
No more reports of lost yellowfin or dorado.
Water temps are down, from 62 to 64 – maybe 65 tops.
The best bet continues to be to the far south of this huge block from the 371 south towards the Upper Hidden and west towards the 390…Fish Dope

A few boats gave this area a look over the weekend and found good fishing for kelp paddy yellowtail. Approximately 90% of the yellows are rats under 6 pounds but there were a lot of them. Limits were not hard to come by and there were very little signs of anything else…Fish Dope

Over the weekend, a few boats made the long 100+ mile run down to this area and found decent fishing for 8- to 12-pound yellowfin, 6- to 15-pound dorado and lots of 4- to 6-pound rat yellowtail.
One boat also found a spot of 100- to 200-pound class bluefin up on micro bait but they refused to bite.
The yellowfin and dorado are coming on both jig stops and kelps.
The yellowfin bite was not wide open and is slowing. You don’t have much time left to get in on the bite. Maybe just a few more days and they will be gone for the year.
The kelps are holding all three species.
The best biter has been, by far, the kelp paddy yellowtail… Fish Dope
San Quintin
Captain Jamie Garcia did well at San Martin Island with very good calico bass; then they fished Ben’s Rock for quality reds and lingcod. The weather was great if a little nippy, but it was a flat-water day (all calicos were released. Looks like they also caught a small broomtail… Captain Juan Cook
Bahía Asunción
The yellowtail are getting fat and the bite is ON!!! They are close to town too which is great for all the “spearos” coming here. My sashimi knife is getting a workout and our guests are digging the fresh lobster. Shore fishing is hot as well. We look forward to an outstanding December, so come on down! AMERICAN AIRLINES WILL FLY FROM DALLAS AND PHOENIX TO LORETO AT THE EAST 2020: MENDOZA DAVIS
· From Phoenix Arizona, there will be four weekly flights to Loreto.
· The flight from Dallas, Texas will arrive once a week.
· Two seasons will be covered: December to March and June to August.

“Baja California Sur is back on the International Tourist Market and we do so strongly and firmly, and sustained with the reconnection of our capital city and strengthening Loreto’s air connectivity with two major cities in the United States,” said Governor Carlos Mendoza Davis.
The state leader detailed that it is the destinations of Dallas, Texas, and Phoenix, Arizona in neighboring U.S., which he said will be operated by American Airlines in the December-March and June-August seasons, starting this same year.
In that sense, he stated that the La Paz-Dallas and Loreto-Dallas routes will have a weekly flight, while the La Paz-Phoenix route will fly 3 times a week; and Loreto-Phoenix will have 4 frequencies.
Mendoza Davis stressed that for La Paz it is a major news story as it means the capital will return to the U.S. tourist stage, the leading issuing country of visitors to the entity; while for Loreto, he indicated that it will provide the opportunity to diversify while attracting the arrival of more tourists.
“We’re moving forward with safe and secure steps toward the recovery of our tourism industry; we’re not only increasing our air connectivity, but we’re raising La Paz’s competitiveness abroad. Without a doubt, this fact proves that Baja California Sur is a safe and high-quality destination,” the governor said.
The Chief Executive thanked American Airlines for the confidence in the state, and remarked, “I assure you that this action will not only strengthen the relationship with American Airlines but will also help the airline’s growth in the Southern California territory.”
Finally, Carlos Mendoza recognized the efforts of the secretary of tourism, economics, and sustainability (SETUES), Pacific Airport Group (GAP), Airports and Auxiliary Services (ASA) and Tourist Promotion Trusts, in the negotiations conducted to bring to reality these connections as well as to continue to search for alliances that will allow BCS to return to its tourists potential.
Meanwhile, the regional director of American Airlines in Mexico, Central America, Colombia & Ecuador, José Maria Giraldo, mentioned: “We are proud to continue to strengthen our presence in Mexico with two new destinations in the country, La Paz and Loreto. We will be operating over 520 weekly flights to 26 destinations in December, a true achievement for American. This growth shows our airline’s firm commitment to Mexico, where we’ve continued to operate uninterrupted service for almost 80 years.” he concluded.
Loreto
“Welcome back to Loreto!” (in both English and Spanish) was the chant at the arroyo just south of town. Big schools of medium-sized sierra were slashing anything that hit the water. One of our boats was out at the marina and back in 90 minutes with limits of sierra on ice. Most of the fish were 24-inches long, but that didn’t dampen the excitement. It’s been a few years since we had schools of the ‘toothy macks’ hanging out and ready to test our mono! Mixed in with the sierra were similar-sized dorado and roosterfish babies.
Earlier in the week, we had schooling firecrackers doing the limit dance farther south.
I call them firecrackers, but they seemed on the larger end of that scale and even the next size up for yellowtail that escapes my memory!
The winter wind cycle is back with a chunk of days being too windy to fish followed by the best days of the entire year!
Water temps are still in the mid-70s and only slightly green, a little like lime Jello.
It looks like all the regular snowbirds are flocking back. I’m not sure if our Canadian winter birds will be able to go back and forth with the COVID-19 restrictions…Rick Hill, Pinchy Sportfishing

I headed down to La Paz to help a friend get a boat moved from there to Loreto. We spent a couple of days on the dock working on the boat and prepping for the short jaunt over to its new home in Loreto. Aside from the fact that you can’t fish from the dock while nice little pargo are everywhere taunting you, La Paz was nothing short of amazing. Puerto Los Cabos
Overall, the fishing action has been tougher recently – a lot of this has been due to the winds beating the northern grounds. On Monday, there were two impressive cow-sized yellowfin tuna that were brought in, one weighing around 200 pounds found outside of the San Luis Bank during normal mid-day hours, and the other tuna, which was hooked into on the Gordo Banks later in the afternoon, was fought for three and one-half hours before it was finally boated. The crew brought it back after 8 p.m. in the dark. This cow was estimated at well over 300 pounds. It hit on a skipjack trolled by a team of local La Playita anglers, headed by the legend, Eduardo Aripez.
For the remainder of the week, the tuna action was scarce, and there were a couple of days when the fleets found some smaller-sized yellowfin associated with moving porpoise. They also found a handful of tuna in the 40- to 70-pound class that they hooked while soaking bait on the same grounds from Iman to San Luis, but again, most of the entire time these areas were very choppy due to the winds.
Dorado were scattered – some days there were more to be found than others, though again, most of the dorado were small, under ten pounds. Wahoo action was located on the grounds north of Punta Gorda to Vinorama, but the action was spotty, and mixed sizes of fish were taken, from four-pound sierra to trophy-sized tournament-contending wahoo weighing around 60 pounds. These fish hit on Rapalas, sardina, and yo-yos, and more anglers are now beginning to try their luck at obtaining chihuil and using them for trap-hooked trolling bait.
Not a whole lot of bottom action is being done; winds did not make this an easy option, and the highlights were a handful of amberjack and dogtooth snapper, but there were more triggerfish, bonito, and small pargo/snapper than anything else. Closer to shore, mainly towards Cabo San Lucas, we were seeing some sierra with sizes up to five pounds, most of which were taken on sardina, hoochies, or small Rapalas.
We have heard of wide-open action for striped marlin being found on the Pacific Banks, though off of San Jose del Cabo we saw more sailfish, a pair of black marlin, one blue marlin, plus a few striped marlin that were brought in on pangas, although there were no big numbers like there were on the Pacific side …Eric Brictson, Gordo Banks Pangas

Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, November 30, 2020.- Grupo Orsan committed to the community of Cabeña closes a successful 7th Orsan 2020 Sport Fishing Tournament with 167 participating teams, contributing to the destination with an important economic benefit and supporting those who most love it. they need with two altruistic donations.
